Brittany Church is excited to return to Bird in Hand and play
Katie again! A graduate of Belmont University’s musical theatre

Sally in Urinetown, Marcy Park in The 25th Annual Putnam
County Spelling Bee and Mrs. Tottendale in The Drowsy
Chaperone. She is blessed to be a part of a show which touches
and shares God’s love with so many people.

Daniel Stargel – Daniel Fisher

Daniel Stargel (Daniel) is grateful for the opportunity to rejoin the
Lancaster cast of The Confession this year! A native Floridian, he
studied music at Florida Southern College before fi nding a passion
for theater. Since then, he has been honored to travel and share
many productions with his wife, Rachel, whom he fell in love with
on stage. Regional shows include Plain & Fancy (Dan King),
Dracula – Dietz (Dracula), The Full Monty (Jerry), Footloose (Chuck Cranston), The Miracle (Jesus, Lucifer) and South Pacific (Emile de Becque). Daniel would especially like to thank his mom and dad for their
encouragement in valuing and pursuing the arts.

Jen Morris is thrilled to be joining The Confession family. She is a proud NYU Tisch School of the Arts graduate with her BFA in Drama/Musical Theatre. Past favorite roles include Bye Bye Birdie (Ursula Merkle), 42nd Street (Peggy Sawyer), Damn Yankees (Doris), Annie, Get Your Gun (Winnie Tate) and Pirates of Penzance (Mabel). Liz Brooks – Laura Mayfield

Elizabeth Brooks comes to Bird-in-Hand with impressive past credits. These include Mary in Run For Your Wife, the Queen in Cinderella, Sister Sophia/Mother Abbess understudy in The Sound of Music at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre in Mesa,AZ, Meg in Damn Yankees, General Cartwright in Guys and Dolls and Diana in Lend Me a Tenor at the Union Colony Dinner in Greeley, CO. Liz recently graduated from Arizona State University with a Master of Music degree in Opera/Musical Theatre. She also holds a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance form the University of Northern Colorado and studied at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City.

 

John Patrick Wencel – Dylan Bennett

John Patrick Wencel is enjoying his role as the scoundrel Dylan.  Some other notable villains he’s played throughout his career are Tolbert McCoy in Hatfi elds and McCoys, Caldwell B. Cladwell in Urinetown and Captain Hook in a family production of Peter Pan when he was eight. When not playing bad guys, John enjoys the simple pleasures of reading, playwriting and watching a good movie. Special thanks to Wally for the opportunity, his family for
their support, Carin for her love and understanding and his momma for not raising any fools.

Natalie Pollisson – Allyson Cairns

Natalie Polisson is so excited to be joining the cast of The Confession! Originally from Northwest Indiana, she recently graduated from The University of South Dakota with a BFA in Musical Theatre. Natalie has spent her past two summers working for the Black Hills Playhouse out in the beautiful hills of South Dakota where she portrayed Natalie Haller in All Shook Up and Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors. She also worked for the Betty Ling Tsang Summer Fine Art Series playing Olive Ostrovsky in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Other recent credits include: Viola in Twelfth Night, Logainne (Schwartzy) in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Bad Idea Bear/Mrs. T in Avenue Q and Wendla in Spring Awakening. Natalie is so thankful to have the opportunity to use her talents to show God’s love and compassion to others. Rachel Stargel – Rebecca Lapp

Rachel Stargel is very excited to be returning to the cast of The Confession! Originally from Woodland Park, CO, Rachel earned her BA in Vocal Performance from Malone College in
Candon, OH. Some of her favorite roles include Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady), Hilda Miller (Plain and Fancy), Julie (Ring of Fire), the Narrator in Sight & Sound’s production of Ruth,
Nellie Forbush (South Pacifi c), Golde (Fiddler on the Roof) and Uriel and Mother Mary (The Miracle). She has fl own above the stage in aerial sword fights, warbled on the Alaskan seas with her fabulous husband on board a cruise ship, sung to a baby llama and…well, you get the picture. Some pretty fun stuff!! “Thanks to God for His direction and care, much love to my wonderful husband, to my crazy/lovely family, the amazing cast and crew that I get to work with and many thanks to you, our marvelous audience, for joining us. Douglas Rau – Samuel Lapp

Douglas Rau hails from Lehighton, PA. He obtained his BA in Theatre from Messiah College and has also studied at Circle at the Square Theatre School on Broadway in NYC, Temple University in Philadelphia and at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland. Favorite roles/shows include Young Man in Bash, Dr. Lyman in Bus Stop, Sidney Hopcroft in Absurd Person Singular and “We Beseech Thee” soloist ensemble member in Godspell.  Much love and thanks to God, Mom, Dad, Julie, Kathy, Dave, little Ruthie and Noah and the rest of my friends and family.

                                               Joe Coppellotti- Fulton Taylor

Joe Coppellotti is a recent graduate of Salem State University in Salem, MA, fi nishing with a BFA in acting. He is proud to be making his debut at the Bird-in-Hand Stage. His previous shows include regional New England tours of Strega Nona and Totally Red with Little Red Wagon, as well as productions of Footloose, Grease and A Funny Thing…Forum with Summer Theater at Salem. He was a recipient of the New England Theater Conference’s award for Best Scene Partner in 2009 for his work in True West and Eastern Standard. He enjoys performing improvisational comedy as well as playwriting.  He would like to thank Wally Nason and the staff of Bird-in-Hand for the delightful show and opportunity.


Rachel Gitel – Rosie Taylor

Rachel Gitel, a native Missourian, is thrilled to be a part of such an inspiring and unique show! After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from Drury University, Rachel has been involved with several shows in her hometown, both on and off  the stage. She has most recently been seen in the Halloween-themed musical, Love at First Fright, at Six Flags Saint Louis for the past two years and was so excited to be a member of the regional debut of the new off-off-Broadway musical review, Women on Love. Rachel was also the vocal director for a local high school production of Beauty and the Beast musical. Past show credits include Lucy Harris in Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical, Tessy Mahoney in This Miss Firecracker Contest, Cheryl in Evil Dead The Musical and Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest. Rachel dedicates this performance to her friends and family back home who are always in her heart. I love you so much!

Melissa Mitchell – Katie Lapp (Katherine Mayfield)

Melissa is beyond stoked to begin her professional career here at the Blue Gate Theater as a part of the cast of The Confession, and can’t wait to see what this Fall has in store for her! Originally from San Diego California she recently graduated from Liberty University with a BA in Musical Theater. Some previous roles include Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun, Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray, Sarah Kines in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Mercy Lewis in The Crucible, and Rosalia in West Side Story. At the age of 5 weeks old Melissa was adopted by her two amazing parents, who have always fully encouraged her in her love for the arts. She would like to dedicate this show to the two of them, and thanks them along with the rest of her friends and family for their endless love and support. Most of all, she is thankful to God for blessing her beyond what she deserves, and for being her strength and her song. Jer. 29:11

Sarah Rogers – Mary Stoltzfus

Sarah Rogers has taken part in several shows from her high school years to present, including college, community and church ministry performances. In addition to acting she has been involved in set design and construction, stage management, props and costumes, directing, writing and advertising. Shows she has most recently been involved in include You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Lucy), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Chorus), Pygmalion (Mrs. Pearce), The Butler Did It (Rita), and A Bull in a China Shop (Director). The spent two years leading the drama team Remnant at Grace College and around the US and is thrilled to be a part of the Blue Gate cast! She is currently living with her family in Howe, IN

Kevin McDaniel – Daniel Fisher

Kevin is very excited to make his Blue Gate Theatre debut! Hailing from Cincinnati, OH, he has a BA in musical theatre from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. Fresh off his performance of Kanute in Don’t Hug Me at Cornwell’s Dinner Theatre, some of Kevin’s favorite regional theatre credits include 1776 (Rutledge), My Fair Lady (Freddy Eynsford-Hill), Forever Plaid (Sparky), Dollywood’s Babes in Toyland (Mr. Barnaby), and Little Women (Mr. Brooke). Other credits include Can-Can (Hilaire), Room Service (Simon Jenkins), The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (Melvin P. Thorpe), and Alan Menken’s A Christmas Carol (Young Scrooge). Kevin has also spent time touring children’s shows with ArtReach, based in Cincinnati. “Love and thanks to mom, who follows my acting career around the country so faithfully!”

Phillip Black – Dylan Bennett

Originally from Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Philip Black is a recent graduate of Huntington University, where he received his B.A. in Theatre Performance. He has previously been a summer company member of two exceedingly fine theatres, Timber Lake Playhouse in Mt. Carroll, Illinois (’10) and Weathervane Playhouse in Newark, Ohio (’11). Blue Gate Theatre marks his return to his native state of Indiana. Favorite past roles include Billy Flynn in Chicago, Ali Hakim in Oklahoma, Sky Masterson in Guys & Dolls, and Gaston in Disney’s Beauty & the Beast. “The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts; so I am helped, and my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.” Psalm 28:7

Mary McNulty – Alyson Cairns

Mary McNulty is a recent graduate of the University of Kansas with a BFA theatre and voice. She last appeared as Titania/Hippolyta in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Lost Nation Theater in Montpelier, Vermont where she also had the opportunity to originate the role of Peaseblossom in “Midsummer” by Don Nigro with Gravity and Glass Productions. Some of Mary’s other credits include Hope Harcourt in “Anything Goes”, Mrs. Sullen in “The Beaux’ Stratagem”, Nora in “Riders to the Sea”, Rosemary Pilkington in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”, Peaseblossom/ understudy to Titania in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, and Sr. Amnesia in “Nunsense”. Mary has also appeared in the chorus of “Madame Butterfly” with Kansas City Concert Opera. Mary would like to thank her teachers, family, and friends for all their love and support.

John Davis – Fulton Taylor

John A. Davis was born and raised in Sturgis, Michigan retired from a marketing management position in drapery hardware and is owner of a local floral shop, He has been singing lead for the Helmsmen Quartet of southwest Michigan for the past four years. In his spare time he has been involved in many theatre productions throughout the area. His stage credits include Scarecrow in The Wizard of OZ, Mortimer Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace, Teen Angel in Grease, and Sir Edward Ramsay in The King and I. John has also had experience in set design for many theatre productions. He recently finished performing for Operation Celebration: A Tribute to our Armed Forces. He is grateful to God for his provision and blessings and to his friends and family (especially his wonderful wife Roseann) for their love and support.

Fjaere Harder – Rosie Taylor

Fjaere caught the theatre bug in 7th grade playing 5 different characters in the ensemble of The Sound of Music. She was active in both music and theatre at Hesston College and Goshen College , where she earned a B.A. in music. On screen, Fjaere has filmed numerous television commercials in the Boston area, as well as making a background appearance on CBS’s The Goodwife. Though she was most recently seen on stage as Laurie in Oklahoma! in the Greater Boston area, her favorite role will always be that of the melodramatic, support hose-wearing Mae Peterson of Bye Bye Birdie. Fjaere thanks her family and friends who have been letter-winning cheerleaders to her as she now blissfully pursues her passion for theatre.

Anne Miranda – Laura Mayfield (August 23 -  September 10/
October 22 – December 3)

Anne K. Miranda is blessed to be able to return to the Blue Gate and the role of Laura Mayfield. She holds a BFA in Music (Vocal Performance) from Carnegie Mellon in her native Pittsburgh, PA. She has performed in various community, dinner and regional theatres throughout the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic for over 20 years, as well as several film projects shot in Michigan since 2005. Favorite roles include Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, and Iveta in the student film Close Shave. She is grateful for her husband David and two boys, Andrew and AJ, whose love and support allow her to fulfill her life’s calling to “serve others and administer God’s grace in it’s various forms.” (I Peter 4:10)

Shannon Munley – Laura Mayfield (September 10 – October 20)

Shannon is originally from Scranton, PA where she earned her Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Scranton. Since moving to New York City last summer, she has been treating Broadway performers across the Great White Way as well as performing herself. She has helped to cultivate and originate characters in new works such as Ruthie/Feste in WSXR Players Present Twelfth Night, Madison in Wanda McKiver’s The Meltdown at the Roy Arias Studios and Ruby in Broadway Pioneers’ Second Samuel. She is absolutely thrilled to be joining the fall cast of the Confessions! Thank you to family & friends and their unwavering confidence and support.

Kate Salsbury – Rebecca Lapp (August 23-September 3)

Kate Salsbury, an Ohio native, is tickled pink to play an Amish momma once again this year! Quite the gypsy, her love of theatre has taken her to nine states in five years. She is an alumna of Regent University, and most recently appeared as a company member in Plain and Fancy, Hello Dolly, and The Old Rugged Cross at The Round Barn Theatre in Nappanee, IN. Other favorite credits include: The Lost Colony (Dame Colman), Les Miserables (Cosette), Fiddler on the Roof (Tzeitel), Into the Woods (Jack’s Mother), Ragtime and Children of Eden. She would like to thank her parents who never stopped believing in her, even when she didn’t believe in herself!

 Gloria Wallman – Rebecca Lapp (September 5 – December 3)

Gloria Wallman is very excited to be returning to the Blue Gate Theater to reprise her role as Rebecca in The Confession. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theatre from the University of Northern Iowa. Her stage credits include Hope Harcourt in ANYTHING GOES, Young Sally in FOLLIES, Yum Yum in THE MIKADO, and Rapunzel in INTO THE WOODS. She originated the role of Amrah in the Orlando, FL premiere of BEN-HUR, THE MUSICAL. Her singing credits include the Dickens Carolers, Highest Call, the Orlando Opera Company, and the Voices of Liberty at Walt Disney World. After spending 8 years as a member of the Century vocal ensemble and drama cast at The Holy Land Experience, Gloria relocated to Sturgis, MI in 2008. She has performed in two seasons of HIS LIFE and THE ROCK, THE REDEEMER, AND THE RESURRECTION MORNING at the Blue Gate Theater. She recently finished producing/music directing and performing for OPERATION CELEBRATION: A TRIBUTE TO OUR ARMED FORCES and co-directing YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN in Sturgis. She is grateful to God for His provision and blessings and to her friends and family(especially her wonderful husband Mark) for their love and support.

Gary Olson – Samuel Lapp (August 23 – September 10)

Since originating the role of Samuel in the première production of The Confession last year, Gary has been cast as the voice of God in an animated web series. He is a featured extra in “Curiosity: Alien Invasion, Are We Ready?” which began airing in August on the Discovery Channel. A veteran stage and film actor, he has performed in professional and community venues throughout the Midwest, South, and Southwest, including Nashville, TN, Phoenix and Las Vegas. Other acting credits include television commercials, industry videos, and appearances on radio and television. He has chartered and directed four drama ministry troupes. He is happy to be sharing the Blue Gate stage again with Gloria Wallman and Anne Miranda, renewing friendships, and meeting new cast members.

Mark Colbenson – Samuel Lapp (September 12 – December 3)

 
Mark L. Colbenson: Mark is thrilled to working with Blue Gate Musicals! He has been involved in theatre for nearly 40 years as actor, director, designer and technician. Favorite onstage roles include “Joe Keller” in All My Sons, “Colm Primrose in Sea Marks, “Henry Drummond” in Inherit the Wind, and the title roles in the one-man shows Clarence Darrow and Einstein, A Stage Portrait. Most recently he was seen as “Underling” in the The Drowsy Chaperone. He was the Artistic Director at Richmond Community Theatre in Rockingham, NC and was a co-founder and Director at the Long Lake Theatre in Park Rapids, MN. His most cherished role, however, is that of “Dad” to Adam, Laura and Karen and “Grandpa” to Acer and Bellis.

Joshua Katzker – Samuel Lapp

Josh is very excited to be joining the team of THE CONFESSION!  He has appeared for the last seven seasons in the outdoor drama TECUMSEH! in Chillicothe, OH and spent three years with the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse (Auburn, NY) as an actor, director and songwriter.  Most recently he appeared in Stray Cat Theatre’s (Tempe, AZ) production of LEARN TO BE LATINA as Will for which he earned a Zoni Award Nomination and worked on the world premiere of THE BOYS ROOM at the Tony Award-winning Victory Gardens Theatre (Chicago, IL).  Other favorite regional credits include DAMES AT SEA, LEADER OF THE PACK, BEDROOM FARCE, PICNIC and MATCH, He holds an MFA in Performance from Arizona State University and a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Central Florida.  Originally from Pembroke Pines, FL, Josh now makes his home in Chicago.
